Also from Bear Family, this CD contains the 11 songs on original CD of the 1969 album, Sunday Concert, plus five bonus tracks. Lightfoot's "Spin, Spin" (Nashville version) and his cover of Dylan's "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues" are worth the price of the CD, and then some.

If You Could Read My Mind was the breakthrough album for Gordon Lightfoot as a recording artist, having already succeeded as a songwriter. This was his first album since switching from United Artists to Warner Brothers and the title song was his first US chart single (reached #5 on Billboard).

Old Dan's Records CD @ Amazon Old Dan's Records CD
Old Dan's Records is long out of print. Very expensive - used copies of this CD are as pricey as new copies of other CDs. This album came out after Gordon was stricken with Bell's Palsy, and he did not tour in support of it; that probably kept the sales numbers much lower than they deserved to be. Stand out songs are the title track, "Old Dan's Records," "It's Worth Believin'" and the wonderful, "Hi'Way Songs."
Sundown CD @ Amazon Sundown CD
Sundown, originally released in 1974, was Lightfoot's most successful album on the Billboard charts. It went to number 1, in the US and Canada simultaneously, and the single of the title song topped both charts at the same time too. A second song from the album, Carefree Highway, also charted well, reaching number 10 late that year. Most of the songs are personal songs, but interspersed are songs of the sea, wandering and social commentary, all familiar Lightfoot themes."

Of course, the standout track here is Lightfoot's great shipwreck song, "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald," but we also have "Race Among the Ruins," and "The House You Live In," which was his mother's favorite song. A fantastic album.

Released in 1978, Endless Wire featured several signature songs, including "Daylight Katy", a minor hit in the UK, "If Children Had Wings", a poignant song written when his ex-wife moved to Europe with his children and a new recording of "The Circle Is Small" from 1968.
Live in Remo DVD @ Amazon Live in Remo DVD
A Lightfoot concert taped in April, 2000 at the Pioneer Theater in Reno, NV, is the only live Lightfoot concert video ever released. It was originally available on DVD and tape, and in both North American and European format, but only the North American DVD is still available new. The DVD has 22 songs; almost the entire concert.

Includes the 11 tracks on the 1971 AME record Early Lightfoot (recorded in 1962). and the 12 tracks from the 1962 album, Two Tones Live at the Village Corner (with his high school friend, Terry Whelan), plus two additional tracks from a UK single, and a track with radio spots. This is material from very early in his career; only the Merle Travis song, "Dark as a Dungeon" hints at the performer he would soon become. Probably "needledrop."
